Through clinical cohort studies, it was determined that serum GP73 is not an indicator for diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma. However, based on its correlation with GP73 protein levels in liver tissues of patients with liver fibrosis/cirrhosis, it was proposed that serum GP73 levels are a reliable indicator for diagnosing compensated cirrhosis. It was found that combining serum GP73 with ALT can more accurately distinguish patients with chronic hepatitis B who are suitable for antiviral therapy, reducing the reliance on liver biopsy. A joint effort with a company resulted in the development of the world's first serum GP73 quantitative detection reagent kit based on magnetic particle chemiluminescence.
