Research Projects
Led national research projects under the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Five-Year Plans; participated in the Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth, and Thirteenth Five-Year Plans for Major Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, the 973 Program, the 863 Program, the National Key Technology Research and Development Program, and Sino-Belgian and Sino-Japanese research cooperation projects (Chinese PI).
Research Focus
Specializes in viral hepatitis research. First reported and confirmed via immunoelectron microscopy and gene sequencing the existence of epidemic and sporadic hepatitis E in China.
Established laboratory diagnostic techniques and a rhesus monkey animal model for hepatitis E in China.
Developed "HEV IgG Antibody ELISA Kit" and "HBV Surface Antigen Colloidal Gold Test Strip," receiving new drug certificates with protection periods of 2 and 8 years, respectively.
First to epidemiologically and serologically confirm hepatitis C outbreaks among plasma donors in China, linked to cross-contamination during plasma collection; implemented measures to control the spread.
First to confirm hepatitis G virus infection in China through epidemiological, molecular biological, and animal infection studies.
Collaborated with Beijing institutions to propose optimal hepatitis B vaccination strategies for newborns and developed diagnostic kits for hepatitis A and D, generating significant economic and social benefits.
