Since the establishment of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, "Medical Microbiology" has been one of the compulsory courses for undergraduate students. In 2009, under the leadership of Academician Zhuang Hui, "Medical Microbiology" was recognized as a National Excellent Course (offline course, course leader: Zhuang Hui). Subsequently, in 2013, "Medical Microbiology" was awarded the National Excellent Resource Sharing Course (online and offline course, course leaders: Zhuang Hui, Peng Yihong). In 2020, based on the foundation of "Medical Microbiology," the teaching team introduced the course "Virtual Simulation Experiment for Influenza Virus Isolation and Identification in BSL-2 Laboratory," which was recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Course (course leader: Peng Yihong). Additionally, the online course "Understanding the Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2" was launched in 2020 and 2022 respectively on the China Medical Graduate Online Education Platform and the Virus Field Teaching Resource Sharing Service Platform (course leader: Peng Yihong). The teaching team of "Medical Microbiology" won the Outstanding Teaching Collective Award in 2010, the Outstanding Team Award of the Medical Department in 2016 and 2020.
